Day Tour to the Galilee

The Galilee is a mountainous ridge in northern Israel, known mostly in the Christian Western World as the Home land of Jesus of Nazareth.

Being so, the first stop of the tour will be Nazareth, where one can visit several sites relating to Jesus Childhood years: Church of Annunciation, Saint Joseph Church, the Synagogue-Church, and Saint Gabriel Church by “Mary’s Well”. Near the city the ramarkable view from Mount of Precipice is also worth a stop.

Nearby, in the village of Cana, a stop should be made to visit the “Wedding Church“, which by local tradition marks the location where Jesus Performed his “First Miracle” – turning water into wine (John 2).

An hour drive towards the Sea of Galilee will get us to the “Town of Jesus” – Capernaum. The small fishing village became Jesus’ main home when he preached and proclaimed is Messianic role. Being so, a cluster of Holy Christian sites can be seen in the vicinity: “Mount of Beatitudes” Where Jesus gave the “Sermon on the Mount” (Mat. 5); Church of the miracle of the multiplication of Loaves and Fish (Luke 9), Church of the “Primacy of Peter“; Bethsaidah and Chorazin who were denounced by Jesus (Mat. 11); Hometown of Mary Magdalene (Magdala / Migdal), And Kibbutz Ginosar, where one can see an amazing unique discovery made at the Sea of Galilee in 1986 – “The Boat of the Galilee“.

Weary and hungry, we can use the oppurtunity of being by the Sea of Galilee and dine in one of the local fish Restaurants. “Saint Peter Fish” seems like the natural order for today!.

As we start heading back we pass by the plains of Armageddon, or alternatively we could return through the Jordan valley, passing by Beit-Shean, The Baptism site (“Qasr el-Yahood“), and Jericho.
