Independence Hall

Independence Hall” is the name given to the building on Rothschild Boulevard, no. 16. It was first built as the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Dizingoff. Mr. Dizengoff, who was also the first mayor of Tel-Aviv, eventually donated his own property to the municipallity, and the house was turned into a 3 stories art Musuem desgined in the contemporary Bauhaus style. 

On May 14th 1948 at this building David Ben-Gurin declared the state of Israel. When the art museum was moved to a bigger location, the interior was redesigned like at the event of the declaration, and guided tours are provided at the site on daliy basis.
