Jaffa is one of the oldest cities in the world that is continously inhabited to this day. The ealiest evidence found in Jaffa is from pre-historical times, yet today the site bears mostly architecture from the 18th and 19th century CE.

Jaffa is famous in the Christian world as the location of Peter’s vision recorded in the book of Acts, and accordingly there are several churches devoted to Saint Peter or the Angel Michael.

The Port of Jaffa is reserved today only for small scale fishing, and near it is the colorful Flea Market. and a promenade connecting Jaffa with Tel-Aviv for athlets and tourists alike. 

In 1909 sixty Jewish families founded outside Jaffa a new colony named “Tel-Aviv”. Today it is the biggest metropolin in Israel. Along its main street – Rothschild Boulevard, is the building where the state of Israel was declared in 1948 – “Independance Hall“.
